Trades Generalist

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Trades Generalist will be required to provide and accomplish technical and trade specific maintenance, construction, and restoration services for DEC’s infrastructure and facilities. Must have general knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades. Must be able to perform the described job duties/skills according to work orders or verbal instructions by inspecting the work site to determine materials, equipment, tool requirements, and method to be used; developing a plan or lay out for the project or following a blueprint or schematic; assembling, fabricating, or building and installing materials, equipment, or fixtures as required by the scope of work. May be required to operate diverse types of equipment and have good working knowledge of all equipment being operated.May be required to supervise subordinate staff and provide instructions to staff on project priorities, work schedules, equipment needs and health and safety issues. Must be willing and able to plan and lay out construction, maintenance, and repair projects to be completed by department staff and/or by contract. Procurement of supplies and materials purchased from vendors under state contract, as well as utilizing preferred sources as required. Obtain quotes for various projects and prepare purchase requisitions while following department guidelines and policies. May be required to administer and manage contracts with outside vendors. Track supplies, materials and equipment to ensure they are used properly. Responsible for performing various administrative duties and accurate and timely submission of schedules, reports and work orders.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical trades.
