Responsibilities
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed when operating heavy equipment such as loaders, cranes, and ship loaders.
- Collaborate with the operations team to maintain accurate records of cargo handled, including weights, measurements, and quantities.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and rigging checks to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Identify potential issues or upset conditions that may impact cargo loading or vessel safety.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment problems and assist with repairs as needed.
- Participate in regular training sessions to stay up-to-date on new technologies and best practices in the field.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, logistics) preferred.
- Previous experience working with heavy equipment and in a maritime or industrial setting highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills essential for success in this role.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Must be physically able to lift, push, and pull heavy loads, and work in high places, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures.
