Ship Loader and Handler

As a Ship Loader and Handler, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient loading of bulk cargo onto vessels at our barge terminals. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all safety procedures are followed when operating heavy equipment such as loaders, cranes, and ship loaders.
• Collaborate with the operations team to maintain accurate records of cargo handled, including weights, measurements, and quantities.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and rigging checks to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Identify potential issues or upset conditions that may impact cargo loading or vessel safety.
• Work closely with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment problems and assist with repairs as needed.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay up-to-date on new technologies and best practices in the field.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, logistics) preferred.
• Previous experience working with heavy equipment and in a maritime or industrial setting highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills essential for success in this role.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Must be physically able to lift, push, and pull heavy loads, and work in high places, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed primarily outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity.
• Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict safety protocols at all times.
• May be required to work in areas with limited visibility, confined spaces, or high heights.
