Companion Driver

Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Companion Drivers to join our team in Washington D.C. and Alexandria areas. As a Companion Driver, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality transportation, companionship, and assistance services to our clients using a company provided wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Your role will involve accompanying both wheelchair-user and ambulatory clients to a variety of destinations, including medical appointments, social activities, and community events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Transportation & Companionship: Safely transport clients to and from various locations, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported throughout the journey.
• Operate Specialized Vehicles: Drive and operate a wheelchair-accessible van, a 14-passenger van, and assist with handling stretchers when required. Ensure proper loading, unloading, and securement of passengers and mobility devices.
• Assist Clients: Help clients in and out of the vehicle, assist with carrying personal items, and accompany them inside locations such as doctor’s offices, pharmacy or lab visits and social events.
• Ensure Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols, including practicing safe driving and wheelchair securement techniques and maintaining a clean, well-functioning vehicle.
• Maintain Vehicle: Take responsibility for the cleanliness and routine maintenance of your assigned company vehicle.

Qualifications:

• Age Requirement: Must be at least 23 years old.
• Preferred Experience: Previous experience as a Caregiver, EMT, Nurse, or NEMT Driver is highly preferred.
• Licensing: Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Background & Testing: Successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Certifications: CPR/First-Aid/AED certification required.
• Tech Skills: Proficiency with smartphones and transportation management apps is a plus.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Attributes: A genuine passion for helping older adults, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong teamwork mentality.

Compensation & Benefits:
At Envoy America, we are committed to the well-being and financial security of our employees. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

• Hourly Rate: $23.00 per hour.
• Shift Availability: Monday through Friday, occasional Saturdays as needed.
• Company Vehicle Provided for Business Use: All vehicle expenses, including gasoline, insurance, maintenance, and tolls, are covered.
