You will be responsible for managing all surface land aspects of a multi-rig drilling schedule. You will negotiate with various stakeholders, including surface owners, grazing tenants, and government agencies, to secure necessary permits, rights-of-way, and easements. You will develop and maintain relationships with surface owners, grazing tenants, and government agencies, ensuring all contractual obligations are met. This position is based in Midland and requires travel.
Responsibilities
- Manages all surface land aspects of a multi-rig drilling schedule, including management of ongoing projects with the assistance of contracted field landmen
- Participate in the planning and staking of pipelines, wells, and other infrastructure.
- Coordinate on-site meetings with landowners and company personnel.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide support
- Negotiates, writes, reviews, and amends agreements, such as surface use and easements
- Reads, analyzes and interprets real property legal agreements proficiently
- Develops and maintains excellent relationships with surface owners, grazing tenants, government agencies, and counterparts at organizations in the industry
- Interacts regularly with government agencies, including University Lands, GLO, BLM, and NMLSO
- Serves as a liaison between the surface owner and regulatory agencies by handling complaints and resolving surface owner-related issues
- Provides land support to other departments by working with land administration and other support personnel to maintain accurate land records.
Skills And Experience
- Experience in the Permian and/or Delaware Basin
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Team Player and self-motivated
- Computer skills are required: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, PowerPoint)
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience as a landman or in a similar role dealing with land issues
- A high school diploma is required; a college degree and PLM certification are preferred
- Relocate to Midland, Texas
- Knowledge of oil and gas operations
- Proven track record of strong negotiation skills in land work
- Must have a good driving record and pass a background check
*Position eligible for full relocation package
