Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall performance of our trash truck fleet. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all trucks are properly maintained, repaired in a timely manner, and meet safety and operational standards. This role requires a strong understanding of fleet management, maintenance best practices, warranty work, sourcing parts, and managing a team of mechanics to ensure maximum productivity and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and repair operations of a fleet of trash trucks, ensuring all vehicles are operational and meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and ensure they are followed to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Coordinate and manage the repair process for all trucks, ensuring that repairs are performed promptly and efficiently.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers for parts sourcing, ensuring the best quality and pricing.
- Monitor the warranty work process, ensuring that warranty claims are filed correctly and repairs are covered as necessary.
- Supervise and direct the work of mechanics, ensuring they are meeting productivity goals and adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, providing guidance and support to mechanics when necessary.
- Develop and maintain maintenance records, reports, and schedules to track truck performance, repair history, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies.
- Work closely with the fleet operations team to schedule maintenance and repairs with minimal disruption to service.
- Maintain inventory of parts ensuring adequate stock levels for efficient operation.
- Monitor mechanic performance, providing coaching and feedback to improve productivity and quality of work.
- Establish and manage a budget for the maintenance department, ensuring costs remain within financial goals.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in fleet management and vehicle maintenance, preferably in trash trucks or similar commercial vehicles.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and experience with truck maintenance and repair.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and safety regulations for commercial vehicles.
- Strong understanding of EATS (engine after-treatment systems)
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide practical solutions.
- Experience sourcing parts and managing inventory.
- Knowledge of warranty processes and claims management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team of mechanics.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to interact with drivers, vendors, and the operations team.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
