Job Title: HUB Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $19.65-$22.75
Job Summary: Empower and inspire the capabilities of various adults to earn paid work and use a wide variety of technology in the rapidly changing world of assistive technology. Learn to use new technology and help the individuals supported use it as well. Encourage independence and provide natural learning opportunities to those supported.
Responsibilities:
· Instruct, train, assess, guide, support and supervise individuals in assigned area.
- Supervise lunch, break periods, arrivals, departures, and other areas as assigned.
- When necessary, assist individuals with personal needs such as transferring, toileting, eating and/or grooming.
- Utilize job/task analyses and/or behavior management techniques when applicable to train individuals on assigned tasks.
- In conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Team, develop and implement a habilitation program to maximize the person’s independence in all environments, including assessments of that person’s present skills, and developing independent living skills necessary for successful integration into the community, including the possibility of vocational placement in a workshop or community setting.
- Provide natural learning opportunities, encouraging the person to be as independent as possible, at work and during recreation, leisure or educational activities.
- Follow and implement all pertinent agency policies, departmental protocols and procedures.
- Serve as positive role model for the person.
- Maintain assigned area in a safe, clean and orderly condition in an effort to provide an atmosphere conducive to instruction and training.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, task analyses, instructional guides and training materials for assigned area.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings as requested.
- Report to the Programming Specialist any specific needs or potential health or safety hazards.
- Participate in departmental or agency in-service training and continuing education programs to improve skills required of the position.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Possess a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
- Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds.
- Must communicate effectively and be capable of proofreading printed and computer work.
- Must possess basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
