What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Strategy Intern - SC or NY position at EP & Co.?
Title: Communications Strategy Intern
Location: Greenville, SC or New York, NY (Hybrid)
Duration: Summer 2025 (June 2 through August 8)
Overview:
You are endlessly curious. The type who reads the back of the cereal box, wonders why people do what they do, and somehow always ends up being the person who explains things in a way that makes everyone go, "Ohhh, now I get it!" You have an insatiable hunger for understanding—trends, people, culture, brands, why that TikTok went viral last night. You’re a collector of insights, a translator of human behavior, and a strategic storyteller in the making. You don’t just ask “what?”—you ask “why?” and “what if?” And you’re ready to put those questions to work.
As a Communications Strategy Intern, you’ll be a key player in shaping insights that drive breakthrough creative ideas. You’ll report to one manager but will have the chance to collaborate across a variety of brands and teams. You’ll work alongside creatives, account teams, and clients to turn research into inspiration, making sure our work is not only smart but also deeply resonant with the people it’s meant to reach. You’ll help connect dots between culture, consumers, and brands, all while supporting the strategy team across multiple accounts like Michelin, John Deere, Pebbles, Farm Rich, and more.
Responsibilities:
Your days might look like:
- Mining insights from research reports, social trends, and human conversations to uncover unexpected truths.
- Conducting cultural deep dives—analyzing emerging behaviors, subcultures, memes, and media to understand where the world is headed next.
- Compiling a competitive analysis—researching how brands position themselves in the market and identifying opportunities for differentiation
- Writing and synthesizing—from thoughtful research summaries to inspiring creative briefs.
- Observing and listening—sitting in on brainstorms, interviews, and strategy presentations to absorb what makes great thinking great.
- Crafting compelling presentations that help make the complex feel simple, using data and storytelling to bring strategies to life.
- Participating in brainstorms and strategic discussions, bringing fresh perspectives and bold ideas to the table.
- Championing the consumer—ensuring the human perspective is never lost in the process of brand-building.
Qualifications:
We’re less concerned with your major and more interested in your mindset. If you’re fascinated by people, culture, and creativity, you’ll fit right in. Some things that will set you apart:
- A natural curiosity—you love learning new things and have a knack for connecting seemingly unrelated dots.
- Strong writing skills—you can clearly articulate thoughts and tell stories that inspire.
- A keen observer of culture—you notice the trends before they’re trending and can decode the "why" behind them.
- Comfort with ambiguity—you don’t need all the answers before diving in; you find excitement in the unknown.
- An ability to synthesize information—you can distill research and insights into clear, compelling takeaways.
- A collaborative spirit—you love bouncing ideas around and believe that the best thinking happens together.
- A strategic mindset—you’re not just creative for the sake of it; you think about how ideas work in the real world.
This is a hybrid internship, not fully remote. Interns must be able to work out of an office location at least three days a week. Relocation stipend not included in internship offer, but EP Co can provide help to gather housing options if need be.
