GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To learn about how a non-profit works in a for-profit world.
To effectively extend customer service and case management to participants through training, mentoring and assistance with job placement and retention follow up.
To establish professional relationships with participants, worksites, referring agencies and associates to positively implement Goodwill’s mission in which goals and objectives can be met in the community.
To uphold Goodwill’s CARES values.
RESPONSIBILITITES MAY INCLUDE:
1. To shadow facilitating, providing and completing training intake and orientation processes and classes/workshops that enhance employability and work skills.
2. To shadow case management activities facilitated under the Career Development Services department.
3. To shadow/assist with intake of eligible participants in developing and attaining desired goals by establishing goals, reviewing and monitoring progress and recording results.
4. To assist preparation and reviewing of weekly and monthly reporting.
5. To assist in managing participant files and providing accurate documentation for services provided.
6. To provide excellent customer service to both internal and external individuals.
7. To maintain confidentiality of all records and files and ensure HIPAA compliance.
8. To keep files safe and secure in designated areas.
9. To act as a liaison between Goodwill Industries and referral sources/partner agencies.
10. To travel as needed to meet the day-to-day activities for all participant services.
Education: Current enrollment in a 4-year institution of higher learning with “good standing”. Has been recommended by the university or college to enter the intern program.
Work Experience and Skills: Prior customer service and/or administrative experience strongly preferred. Strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy, excellence, and goal achievement. Competent computer skills and familiarity with all MS Office products is a requirement. Successful candidates should possess the following fundamental skills: critical thinking, common sense approach to achieving desired results, applied math, listening, reading for and locating information, writing, and computer literacy. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License with limited points.
Physical Requirements: Daily requirements may include climbing, balancing, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, stooping, kneeling, handling, lifting, carrying, pushing, fingering and feeling and pulling.
Safety & Security: Responsible for following all safety, security, and any money handling procedures, as directed by Goodwill policy.
Service Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday or whatever hours are required to meet the professional requirements of the intern service.
Personal Attire: Each intern should present a fashionable, neat, and clean appearance that will be reflective of Goodwill’s positive image in the community.
