Position Overview:
Epic Mechanical is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator for HVAC – Pipe and Sheet Metal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC project estimation and a proven ability to bid on both design/build and plan/spec projects. You will play a critical role in preparing competitive bids for projects within our DPMC and bonding limits and will work closely with the President and Director of Operations as well as directly with the HVAC Division’s Head of Estimating to ensure the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bid Preparation:
Develop comprehensive estimates for a wide range of HVAC projects (e.g., chillers, air handling units, rooftop units, unit ventilators, VAV systems, ice storage systems, fans, boilers, pumps, ATC systems, cooling towers, kitchen hoods). - Project Analysis:
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to identify cost drivers, and develop and coordinate project RFIs, submittals, and purchase orders. - Collaboration:
Work closely with the President and Director of Operations, and Project Mangaement, to support design/build projects and implement value engineering initiatives. Additionally, provide support and subject matter expertise to the Project Manager and other team members as needed to advance projects. We are a Union Shop and Bid and Service DPMC projects. - Project Oversight:
Participate in Client Project Meetings. - Market Analysis:
Monitor market trends, pricing, and subcontractor proposals to ensure competitive bid pricing. - Documentation:
Maintain detailed bid records and ensure accuracy and compliance with our DPMC qualification (up to $15 million) and bonding requirements (up to $25 million).
Qualifications:
- Experience:
Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience as an estimator in the HVAC or related construction industry, with a demonstrated track record in both design/build and plan/spec projects. - Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of HVAC systems and components, and the ability to accurately assess project requirements. - Union Experience & Coordination:
Proven experience in unionized work environments, including effective liaison with union representatives from Sheetmetal (Locals 25 and 27) and Pipefitters (Locals 9, 274, 322, and 475) to ensure compliance with labor agreements and quality standards. - Analytical Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency with estimation software and MS Office. - Education:
A bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. - Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and defend estimates.

Salary : $125,000 - $135,000
