We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Laboratory Assistant/Accessioning professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for specimen receipt, data entry, and ensuring accurate sample processing in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role is essential in maintaining efficiency and accuracy in laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, label, and log incoming specimens in the laboratory information system.
- Verify patient information and specimen integrity for accuracy.
- Prepare samples for testing according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintain organization of specimens, ensuring proper storage and disposal as required.
- Communicate with healthcare professionals regarding sample requirements and discrepancies.
- Prepare paperwork for upcoming appointments.
- Follow all laboratory safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred).
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting or medical office is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Proficiency in data entry and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Work Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday (5 to 8hrs per day)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 24 per week
