Episcopal High School is seeking a Campus Grounds Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our campus grounds. The ideal candidate will have a passion for landscaping and groundskeeping, with a focus on creating a beautiful and welcoming environment for all.
Essential Functions
Groundskeeping Management:
- Oversee all groundskeeping operations, including mowing, pruning, planting, irrigation, pest control, and general maintenance.
- Develop and manage the groundskeeping budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective operations.
- Implement and oversee an integrated pest management (IPM) program to minimize chemical usage and promote ecological balance.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the groundskeeping contractor by promoting a culture of safety and adherence to best practices.
Landscape Design and Planning:
- Support, supplement, and implement the long-term landscape master plan that aligns with the strategic goals and aesthetic vision.
- Design and oversee the installation of new landscaping projects, including gardens, outdoor study areas, walkways, and recreational spaces.
- Ensure the use of native and drought-resistant plants at appropriate locations per the campus landscape framework plan to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Experience
- Knowledge of tree care, lawn care, and garden maintenance
- Possess an elevated understanding of materials, applications, and timing for an appropriate Agronomy program
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage a team effectively
- Ability to maintain outdoor spaces to a high standard
- Experience with irrigation systems is a must
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Turfgrass Science, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 6 years of experience in landscape and groundskeeping management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
Preferences
- 10 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Frequently lift equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Crawl, climb ladders, twist, turn and reach in completing a variety of job duties.
- Work outside in hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time.
- Work in wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school.
- Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
