Position Overview:
Episcopal School of Jacksonville is seeking a long-term substitute teacher in middle school English from March until May of this year. The position entails teaching two sections of seventh-grade English and two sections of eighth-grade English, as well as contributing generally to faculty-wide efforts throughout the semester. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of study from a four-year college or university, or post-graduate work relevant to the subject matter.
Three years of teaching experience in an independent school setting is preferred for any teaching position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Mastery of the content and skills central to the teaching of English discipline; these include, but are not limited to: providing instruction in reading, writing, grammar, and critical thinking to middle school students; maintaining continuity in the curriculum; evaluating student work, including essays and other assessments; providing timely and constructive feedback to support student growth; fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation; and supporting student learning in alignment with the school’s educational goals.
