Job Summary:
The Controller will lead all aspects of the company’s financial operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, implementing robust controls, and partnering with executive leadership to provide strategic financial guidance. This individual will play a critical role in scaling the company’s financial infrastructure to support sustained growth and operational complexity.
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant regulatory requirements
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budget planning and long-term financial forecasting
- Monitor budget vs. actual performance and provide variance analysis to leadership
- Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk
- Forecast funding needs and recommend capital solutions as needed
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Continuously improve financial systems, reporting tools, and operational efficiency
- Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO
- Provide insights to support data-driven decision making and strategic initiatives
- Assist in evaluating potential acquisitions, investments, or expansion opportunities
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Experience in service-based industries such as construction, landscaping, utilities, or snow removal preferred
- Proven ability to lead finance in a high-growth, multi-division organization
- Proficient in financial software systems
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Detail-oriented with a passion for operational excellence and team collaboration
