Title:- Research Clerk
Location:- 4828 Loop Central Dr. Houston, TX 77081
Rate:- $19.23 an hour
Work Schedule:- Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Primary purpose of this position is to research new bankruptcy cases. Once a case is found to have delinquent taxes for one of the Firm’s clients, prepares claims and Notice of Appearances. In addition, will key in this data into BankTools and code account(s) in Tax Tools. Only handles Chapter 11 personal and business as well as Chapter 7 Business cases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research new bankruptcy cases Chapter 11 and business Chapter 7. *
- Prepares claims and notice of appearances. *
- Input new case info into Bank Tools. *
- Prepares claims for Court Costs & Fees. *
- Contacts various Firm staff and jurisdictions for tax information. *
- Review mail daily, for possible bankruptcy cases that need claims prepared. *
- Complete special projects in connection to amending claims for property tax actuals. *
- Occasionally may perform duties within the scope of the job. *
- Assisting with research of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. *
- E-filing Proof of Claims and Notice of Appearances with various courts, as needed. *
- Assigned time-slot to handle incoming department calls and emails. *
EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND EDUCATION:
- Organization *
- Flex ability to move from one Chapter to the next *
- MS Word – Intermediate level *
- Excel – Beginner level *
- Self-Starter *
- Ability to work with numbers *
- Must be good with numbers *
- Must be able to handle high volume workload *
- Must be familiar with the Bankruptcy Schedules *
- Must be able to make analytical decisions *
Physical Requirement:
- Physical demands are sitting at desk and lifting 5lbs or less from time to time. *
- Work environment is very open, friendly and courteous.*
- Employee is required to sit, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate office equipment. *
- Visual abilities include viewing computer screens and the ability to adjust focus. Job Summary*
