Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer I works under direct supervision using knowledge of technical concepts and sound judgement to determine methods and procedures to solve basic problems based on established business strategies to ensure continual improvement, customer satisfaction, and adherence to company policy. The Mechanical Engineer analyzes and evaluates work processes to improve the efficiency, quality and ergonomics of the manufacturing process.
Essential Functions

- Analyze known machine and ergonomic issues associated with the manufacturing process, define root causes, propose solutions, and take decisive actions to implement necessary changes with the support of internal and external resources
- Manage small projects to include defining scope items, creating schedules, visual and written progress reports, costing and ordering documentation, and communicating with internal and external resources to execute the project’s goals
- Research small automation equipment, work jigs, and tooling that optimizes manufacturing processes
- Work in partnership with electrical engineers to develop programs and electrical revisions that support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
- Responsible for preparing and reviewing detailed CAD assemblies, models, and drawings using SolidWorks and Draftsight programs
- Collaborate with the internal department and external vendors to procure materials and equipment defined by the project’s scope, working with peers to build, install, and test machine components, automation, and process changes

- Maintain professional and technical knowledge of industry best practices by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, visiting other manufacturing facilities, and participating in professional societies

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent applicable education and work experience is required
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Engineering preferred; CAD experience required
- Project management training or experience preferred
- Intermediate PC skills are required, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with all levels of personnel and outside vendors
- Ability to use machine shop tools and equipment
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in a manufacturing, cleanroom, warehouse, and/or office environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of noise, specialized apparel and safety equipment, and moving mechanical parts. This position will have exposure to and use of materials listed in the company’s Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee conducts primarily light work with frequent periods of standing, walking, reaching, talking, and listening. Salary : $64,607 - $90,450
