Description

Founded by law students in 1986, Equal Justice Works is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings together an extensive network of law students, lawyers, advocates, legal services organizations, and supporters to promote a lifelong commitment to public service and equal justice.

The Manager, Marketing and Communications will play a pivotal role in advancing Equal Justice Works' mission by leading the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communication strategies. This position will oversee the editorial calendar, ensuring alignment with the organization's brand identity and messaging across various channels, including digital platforms, social media, and traditional media.

As part of this work, the Manager, Marketing and Communications will collaborate across the organization to ensure consistent communication and adherence to brand guidelines and leverage their expertise in graphic design and visual communication to create compelling content that engages and informs our diverse audience.

The Manager, Marketing and Communications will be instrumental in driving innovative ideas from concept to implementation, utilizing exceptional project management skills to move multiple projects forward and meet deadlines. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying trends and challenges, and the ability to work both independently and within a team to achieve strategic goals.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Marketing & Communications Leadership

  • In partnership with the Director, lead the development and execution of Equal Justice Works' annual marketing and communications plan to promote Equal Justice Works across various channels including digital platforms, social media, and traditional media.
  • Manage the editorial calendar for Equal Justice Works in alignment with the organization’s brand identity, messaging, and overall communication strategy.
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure consistent communication across all 
  • platforms

Process Management

  • Ensure all external communications adhere to Equal Justice Works brand usage and voice guidelines
  • In collaboration with the Digital Marketing Coordinator and Marketing and Communications Specialist, oversee the creation and distribution of engaging content that aligns with Equal Justice Works’ mission and objectives across various platforms including Equal Justice Works’ website, social media, and newsletters.
  • Manage development of organizational and event collateral, including print signage, in coordination with external vendors 
  • Support Equal Justice Works’ projects with design consultation as needed

Reporting/Deadlines

• Assist in budget development for marketing and communications efforts and provide projections and recommendations
• Help the team track, measure, analyze and report on effectiveness of marketing initiatives, recommending optimizations where needed
• Stay up to date on industry trends, digital marketing tools, and best practices for web and social media management
• Ensure all communications meet deadlines
• Prepare reports for leadership on performance of marketing and communications campaigns as needed

Education & Experience


• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, public policy, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in communication strategies and content creation
• Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g. Adobe suite) and a strong understanding of visual communication principles
• Exceptional project management skills with the ability to simultaneously move multiple projects forward and meet deadlines
• Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills with particular attention to detail
• Ability to think creatively and innovatively and advance ideas from concept to implementation
• Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges
• Ability to work independently and within a team, anticipate issues and needs, and proactively seek resolutions while being resourceful
