Good Food Coordinator Job Description
Reports to: Board Chair
Our Mission: EquiTable promotes a thriving community through increased access to nourishing food. Our Comida Buena program provides free fresh produce, and lean protein to families from the Hispanic Center of West Michigan, Puertas Abiertas and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. Our participants praise the high quality of our culturally appropriate produce that they are unable to purchase or obtain through other low-cost food sources in their community. Position Overview: The main duties include procuring high quality fresh produce, supervising its distribution at neighborhood Comida Buena program, developing, and maintaining partner, vendor, donor and volunteer relations, and overseeing volunteers and interns. This is a part-time year-round position that requires the employee to work 15-20 hours per week, with potential for more. The bulk of these hours will take place on Wednesday afternoon to evening. Remaining hours are flexible throughout the week.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Good Food Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
- Procure high-quality fresh produce from a variety of sources within prescribed budget
- Plan and distribute food at neighborhood Comida Buena program on pre-determined schedule
- Communicate with recipients, partners, vendor, donors, and volunteer distribution site coordinators
- Recruit, retain, train and schedule volunteers to support food distribution activities
- Drive a van and transport produce to distribution sites
- Plan, direct and lead the work of 1-2 interns
- Coordinate weekly volunteer schedule and contact list
- Develop and maintain a schedule of distribution and recipient names
- Communicate with Board Chair/Director as needed
- Track data including recipient attendees, survey data, purchase orders, and invoices
- Keep a log of any reported issues with volunteers or distribution
- Maintain confidentiality of all records
Skills:
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Google Drive for creation of materials and documentation
- Managerial/Supervisory abilities including planning, delegating, and task facilitation
- Ability to understand and adhere to budgetary constraints
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma required, college degree or 2–3-year related experience preferred
- 1 year or more of leadership/management experience required
- Ability to drive a van, valid driver’s license required, clean driving record; CDL preferred
- Demonstrated interest or background in sustainability, non-profit administration, sustainable agriculture, nutrition, or social work preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interact, direct and collaborate with diverse populations
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Compensation:
$20-21.00/hour; the minimal listed requirements will be used as a baseline for compensation decisions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds for extended periods
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and squat
