The Building Caretaker is responsible for ensuring the daily function of the building overseeing the safety and security, cleanliness, general maintenance of the building and building grounds. This position also performs reception and administrative duties for the building as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer calls, direct to appropriate staff, and take messages
- Provide administrative support and perform data entry
- Log daily building activity and report unusual occurrences
- Conduct exterior and interior security rounds; monitor cameras and respond to emergencies
- Ensure fire safety and report suspicious activities
- Monitor vendors and contractors for compliance
- Assist with building maintenance and repairs
- Perform landscaping, grounds maintenance, and snow removal
- Maintain emergency equipment and keep work areas clean and safe
- Report accidents and hazardous conditions
- Clean and sanitize common areas and maintain building cleanliness
- Report and log maintenance needs
- Keep entrances and exteriors tidy
- Ability to answer a multi-line phone system and direct callers appropriately
- Basic technical knowledge and mechanical ability for maintenance and repair of equipment
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Ability to perform routine housekeeping functions
- Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer) and data entry
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to perform duties in compliance with established Universal Precautions, fire safety, infection control and sanitation procedures, and Era Living policies and procedures
- High school graduate or GED certificate, preferred
- Previous experience in building and ground maintenance and housekeeping custodial duties, required
- Knowledge of security or law enforcement, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in security work and answering a multi-line phone system, preferred
