$144,161 - $260,000

Job Summary
Leads a team that develops and coordinates the ERCOT Transmission Planning Assessment of transmission system upgrades costing from $10 million to over $100 million by conducting analyses and stakeholder reviews.
- Represents ERCOT in stakeholder forums, committees, and working groups
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff
- Reviews and approves staff timesheets and leave requests
- Controls departmental budget to achieve financial goals (manager and senior manager level only)
- Leads and develops annual Regional Transmission Plan to identify future constraints and congestion on the ERCOT system for which new transmission facilities may be needed
- Evaluates and recommends transmission system upgrades to resolve reliability criteria violations or improve the economic efficiency of the ERCOT System
- Works with stakeholders through the regional planning process to identify feasible options
- Obtains and reviews analysis from a broad set of perspectives and works toward consensus on the need for and appropriateness of solutions
- Oversees steady state power flow contingency analyses and economic planning
- Structures appropriate planning studies and sensitivity analyses to determine the need for improvements and evaluates proposed projects, including technical and financial analyses to perform the functions listed above
- Coordinates scenario analyses to ensure recommended transmission system upgrades are robust, in light of uncertainties in new generation, fuel prices, environmental regulations, etc. to perform the functions listed above
- Develops new or revised transmission planning techniques and processes to meet system and market needs; recommends protocol or procedural changes for transmission planning matters
- Leads and/or represents ERCOT in technical committees and subcommittees and state and national policy groups such as the North American Reliability Council (NERC) and the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB)
- Represents ERCOT in stakeholder forums, committees, and working groups
- Serves as expert witness on ERCOT transmission planning matters
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Requires minimum 8 years job related work experience and 2 years in a leadership role in excess of degree requirements. Minimum years of job related experience can include time in leadership roles.
- Bachelor's Degree : Electrical Engineering or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree : Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Preferred)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
- PE Professional Engineer (Preferred)
