Position Summary
The Technical Manager - IP & Sales Support will manage business innovation efforts around IP & Patent generation and support sales activities. This role involves the coordination of internal & external application testing of innovative solutions to support Research & Development, & Business Development activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and technical writing proficiency along with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage IP & Patent efforts within Ergon Energy & Specialty Solution (E&SS), business unit in support of corporate goals.
- Gather technical data from Development & Sales groups and coordinate patent applications with patent attorneys.
- Manage internal & external analytical & application data generation to further support patent efforts.
- Work alongside the Development & Sales teams to support Business Development & Innovation efforts.
- Prepare concise and accurate technical reports to communicate findings and recommendations in pursuit of innovation goals.
- Provide technical support to sales and development teams, assisting with troubleshooting and product application challenges.
- Guide sales and development teams in pursuit of IP & Patent generation.
- Maintain technical data records, NDAs, & external sampling timelines in support of timely IP & Patent filings.
- Support of cross functional innovation efforts between business segments.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related natural science field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in technical writing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills for report writing, presentations, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Attention to detail with strong time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Experience in writing technical reports, including white papers, scientific/technical journal articles, and/or patent applications.
- Knowledge of the patent process, including experience working with patent attorneys.
- Experience in providing technical support to Sales & Business Development Teams.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to coordinate across R&D & Sales Teams.
