Ergon Inc. in Flowood, MS currently has an opening for a Director of Accounts Payable in the Accounting Department.
Ergon, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi. Ergon owns and operates two petroleum refineries located in Mississippi and West Virginia, producing gasoline, low-sulfur diesel, lubricant and process base oils, asphalt and other specialty products. Ergon also produces, markets, and/or distributes paving asphalt, asphalt emulsions, specialty coatings, sealants, and other road construction and maintenance products from over thirty owned or leased asphalt and emulsions plants across the United States.
The Director of Accounts Payable will manage and lead the corporate accounts payable (AP) function, overseeing daily operations, ensuring accurate and efficient processing, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. Additionally, the Director will collaborate across departments to develop and maintain AP systems and policies, ensuring compliance, internal controls, and alignment with company guidelines.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 4 years or more of management experience preferred
- Advanced PC Skills in use of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills
KEY ROLE DUTIES:
- Manage and lead the corporate accounts payable (AP) function in all daily activities and end-to-end processes.
- Oversee a team of AP professionals and ensure timely, accurate, and efficient processing of all account's payable transactions.
- Serve as SME for the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process, offering accounting assistance, issue resolution and training regarding P2P systems, including but not limited to:
- Expense Reporting Software (e.g., Concur)
- Invoice approval workflow software & AP automation
- SAP Accounts Payable
- Play an integral role in maintaining positive relationships with vendors.
- Collaborate with business, accounting and IT leadership to develop, implement and maintain AP systems, procedures, and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
- Partner with other departments such as procurement, treasury, and tax to ensure alignment across functions and effective financial management.
- Ensure strong internal controls are in place and work closely with internal and external auditors during annual audits and quarterly reviews.
- Oversee the vendor set up process and manage ongoing vendor maintenance.
- Lead and participate in special AP and P2P related projects as required.
