What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Technician position at Ergotron, Inc.?
Position Summary: The ideal candidate is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and repairing of electronic assemblies and electrical systems that are part of the products manufactured. Qualified candidates will possess strong troubleshooting skills (to component level) and problem-solving skills. Work includes production, analysis and repair of returned products, setup, and maintenance as well as continuous improvement of test fixtures, and installations and testing of products as required. Candidate will provide support in the form of troubleshooting and drilldown to component level on printed circuit boards to identify the root cause and correction of issues with Enovate Medical products including power systems, printed circuit boards, and electronic and electrical products assisting both internal and external customers as needed. Requires hard work ethic and excellent communication skills.
Purpose: To support the manufacturing of products and provide solutions for issues with existing Enovate Medical products.
Essential Functions:
- Identifies and analyzes product failures and provides immediate solution as well as preventive measures.
- Tests products (production and field returns) to ensure proper operation per established test criteria.
- Troubleshoots electronics down to component level to determine root cause and remedy of any malfunction.
- Excellent soldering skills and the ability to solder both through-hole and surface mount components on electronic circuit boards.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic and electrical schematics.
- Performs required repairs to return units to operational state.
- Sets up and tests units to meet specified requirements.
- Ability to understand the operation of and perform maintenance to test equipment used in production as well as implement continuous improvement to test fixtures and procedures.
- Ability to operate oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and test fixtures and understand their use and operation.
- Ability to operate hand tools and small power tools.
- Inspects work prior to moving to next operation.
- Keeps supervisor aware of all unresolved issues and problems that could negatively impact production schedules or customer products.
- Keeps data records of work completed and fills out production test reports as required to support trending analysis and Quality System requirements, including CAPA.
- Provides support to internal and external customers as needed with diagnosing and correction of issues with Enovate Medical products.
- Practices Continuous Improvement to procedures and processes on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to manage schedule and expenses.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Candidate must have excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Must be proficient in computer operation including but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite, various CRM (Customer Relationship Management) programs and accounting software.
- Must have a sense of urgency in resolving product/customer issues.
- Ability to multitask and manage schedules and expenses.
- Must have knowledge of computer and electronics design, schematics, and operational as well as practical theory.
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must maintain a professional appearance consistent with a corporate environment.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must be available to respond to emergency needs including overtime and weekend work if required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals at all levels.
- Must be able to complete assignments as agreed upon and assure documentation needs are satisfied.
- Work independently to meet deadlines and achieve results.
Experience: Minimum of two years in electronics troubleshooting and repair experience. Must be comfortable using soldering iron and small tools, root cause diagnosis, and repair of electronics and equipment; experience with the repair of equipment in a hospital environment is a plus.
Education: Associates degree in Electronics Engineering plus two years’ work experience is required.
Working Conditions / Travel: Consistent with office/manufacturing environment, some travel may be required.
