Position Summary :
The NPD Sourcing Specialist works with cross-functional project teams including engineering, product management, operations, sourcing, and external suppliers to establish purchased component strategies and alignment of supplier capabilities in order to provide cost and quality advantages to achieve business goals and objectives. Serves as a liaison for cross-functional sourcing participation in all development and design changes within the NPD process phase gates. The NPD Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the alignment of sourcing and supply within specified projects to meet pre-production build and launch dates, BOM costing, and program supply execution.
Position Responsibilities :
- Support efforts within NPD Sourcing to meet project targets and production launch dates across projects
- Monitor project teams' adherence to strategic direction of Global Sourcing
- Report NPD Sourcing project status to Sourcing management
- Proactively manage supply chain risk within the NPD process
- Coordinate and track product gross margin and cost bridge reporting from concept to commercialization
- Contribute to the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within NPD Sourcing processes by collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance speed to market, quality, and long-term delivery
- Monitor performance of supply chain and recommend scope, schedule, cost, or resource adjustments to NPD project teams
- Active participant in projects that span across multiple business units
- Build engaging relationships within Operations and cross-functionally within other Ergotron Departments by becoming a value-added and sought-after resource
- Apply appropriate commodity strategies to new product sourcing needs
- Encourage supplier input into the design and cost through collaborative work with Engineering and Global Commodity Managers to drive best cost and cost down initiatives, understanding and reporting cost risks and opportunities.
- Partner with product design team throughout the NPD process to bring a Design to Value (Manufacturing, Quality, Cost, etc.) viewpoint to assigned projects
- Collaborate on the should-cost and make vs. buy analyses to support sourcing decisions within NPD processes
- Serve as an active product development team member in all phases of the NPD process to ensure all cross-functional objectives are met
- Provide sourcing assistance to the NPD project team early in development phases
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment. All other tasks, projects, and assignments as assigned.
- Additional duties as requested
- Supports "Lean Business Enterprise" initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination
