We are currently searching for an Application Engineer to join our team!

The Company :  Ericson Manufacturing Company engineers and manufactures temporary power, lighting and electrical safety products for commercial / industrial construction, facility maintenance and other industries. General Purpose : Primary responsibility includes providing application and technical support for specific customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Develops configurations and costing for new variants of existing products to meet customer’s special requests.

Apply the National Electrical Code and UL / ETL / CSA standards in good engineering judgment to ensure safe, reliable electrical products, that are cost effective and easily manufactured with current factory processes.

Occasional conference calls with customers and sales staff may be needed to further clarify customer requirements and discuss technical options or solutions, and the Application Engineer will lead the technical portion of the call.

When applicable, obtain quotations from preferred vendors for specific components, i.e. panelboards, switches, receptacles, etc.

Consult with the Application Engineering Manager or key personnel in the engineering or production departments when needed to confirm custom configurations’ suitability, feasibility, or manufacturability.

Provide technical support to Sales, Customer Service, and customers.

Interpret customer requests when needed and answer technical product questions.

Assist sales teams with cross-reference of competitors’ products to equivalent Ericson products, whether standard product or custom product.

Answer inbound calls and email inquiries from customers and provide technical product information.

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements :

B.S.E.E or B.S.E.E.T from an accredited college or equivalent specialized experience, such as experience at an electrical distributor, electrical panel shop, or as a licensed electrician.

Understanding of electrical concepts such as single and three phase power, cable capacity, breakers, loads, panelboards, transformers, NEMA equipment.

Knowledge of NEC codes

Knowledge of MS Office

Ability to communicate detailed technical initiatives to non-technical people

Courteous, professional, positive attitude and manner in all interactions.

Excellent oral and written communication with other departments, outside sales representatives, vendors, and end users.

Experience with lighting layouts a plus.
