JOB DESCRIPTION
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The work involves lecturing students involved in Emergency Medical Service Training courses. The incumbent is involved in coordinating, teaching, and practical skills in Emergency Medical Services education programs. The work is performed primarily at Erie Community College campuses and in various outdoor sites in Erie County. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Lectures students in specific areas of Emergency Medical Training courses;
- Helps students in mastering skills required in the Emergency Medical Training areas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate awareness and sensitivity towards promoting an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Good knowledge and performance in Emergency Medical Training; ability to establish rapport with student(s) to be taught; ability to demonstrate practical skills in Emergency Medical Training; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree or higher. Two (2) years field experience at the paramedic level and currently active in emergency medical services field unit. Must have current NYS certification for level of employment.
Current NYS Paramedic Certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor, and International Trauma Life Support Instructor credentials preferred.
Two (2) years field experience in emergency medical services and current active in emergency medical services field unit. Possession of current NYS DOH Emergency Medical Training certificates. Must have current NYS certification for level of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NYS certified lab instructors preferred; NYS certified instructor coordinator certification (CIC) is strongly preferred.
