Job Responsibility:
Under the general supervision of the Judge, supervises Deputy Clerk staff and general court process.
- 1.) Develops, recommends and administers the clerical process of the Juvenile Court.
- 2.) Interview, train and supervise the Deputy Clerk Staff.
- 3.) Supervise and participate in assisting the public in person and by phone; participate in problem solving and research activities for the public as required.
- 4.) Processes end of day deposit.
- 5.) Prepares various reports as requested by Judge.
- 6.) Supervises the maintenance of records; maintain records for appropriate retention period as required by law.
- 7.) Develops and implements department policies and procedures; keeps staff updated regarding court policies.
- 8.) Approves timesheets and leave requests; monitors compensatory time.
- 9.) Reviews job performance of employees and provides feedback.
- 10.) Reviews disciplinary action, conducts fact-finding for areas under direct supervision, and recommends discipline or termination.
- 11.) Provide clerical support to Judge when Executive Assistant is not available.
- 12.) Any other duty as required.
Qualifications:
- Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
- High school graduate with some advanced college-level course work in secretarial, business, court administration, or related areas.
- Knowledge of court operations, and an understanding of legal terminology and court procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of common office practices, procedures and equipment.
- Proficiency in operating a personal computer and using, or being able to learn, Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize work, work independently without daily direct supervision, and manage a variety of projects simultaneously in a high pressure atmosphere under time constraints.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience. Two years’ experience in a Court or legal office.
