Reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel, this executive role requires deep expertise in marketing laws and regulations, the ability to mitigate legal risks, and a business-minded approach to legal operations.The Deputy General Counsel will work cross-functionally with Marketing, Compliance, Sales, Operations, and Finance teams, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance while supporting Erie Home’s rapid expansion. This role is ideal for a seasoned legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and can provide practical, business-aligned legal solutions.Reports to : Vice President, General CounselLocation : Toledo, Ohio (Headquarters)RequirementsResponsibilities : Legal Support & ComplianceProvide expert legal guidance on marketing strategies, advertising compliance, and consumer protection laws.Advise business leaders on OSHA, employment laws, and other key regulatory requirements across multiple states.Ensure compliance with FTC regulations, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CAN-SPAM, and state telemarketing laws.Legal Operations & Risk ManagementDevelop and enhance legal operations processes to improve response times and streamline legal request handling.Identify and mitigate legal risks while ensuring business strategies remain compliant.Oversee litigation and pre-litigation matters, managing external counsel when necessary.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Compliance teams to ensure an integrated approach to legal support.Provide proactive legal advice on evolving business strategies and initiatives.Training & Policy DevelopmentCreate and deliver training programs to educate employees on marketing compliance and consumer protection laws.Develop and implement legal policies to guide marketing, sales, and operational practices.Executive & Stakeholder CommunicationCommunicate legal risks and implications of business decisions to senior leadership.Serve as a trusted legal advisor to executive teams, ensuring informed decision-making.Qualifications : Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in at least one state, with eligibility for admission in Ohio.10-15 years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm handling marketing compliance, risk management, and employment law.Expertise in FTC regulations, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and state consumer protection laws preferred.Experience in a fast-paced, consumer-facing business environment with high-volume sales and marketing operations.Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing legal professionals.Strategic, business-minded approach to legal problem-solving, ensuring practical, actionable solutions.Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise senior executives and influence key business decisions.About Erie Home : Erie Home is a leading direct-to-consumer provider of residential roofing and basement waterproofing solutions.
