Erie KOA Holiday offers picturesque camping experiences as it was meant to be – with lots of trees, a large pond with fishing, and a campfire under the starlit sky located just 10 miles from Presque Isle on Lake Erie. Offering camping seasonally, from mid-April to mid-October, for RVs, Camping Cabins, Deluxe Cabins, and Tents our goal is to create a great camping experience for our guest by offering excellent customer service. We are just a short drive from Erie, PA conveniently located in McKean, PA on West Road between Hwy. 90 & Hwy. 79.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and outgoing person for our Maintenance/Grounds Keeper team. Maintenance/Grounds Keeper is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the campground buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds. Working Hours & Pay Rates
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays (Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, 4th of July and Labor Day) which includes mornings and evenings.
- Successful applicants can expect between 15-40 hours per week depending on the occupancy of the park.
- Pay range is from $11 to $15 an hour and is dependent on your experience. Employees’ performance will be reviewed after 30 days of employment and raises may be offered if the employee is performing above expectations.
- This position is seasonal April 4th – October 31st.
- Bonuses will be offered to employees that stay the full duration of the season, with some exceptions. Bonus amounts will be based on the employee’s performance, willingness to adapt to peak season scheduling needs, and is up to management’s discretion.
Duties
- Perform basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing repairs, and maintenance to campground buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds as directed by campground management.
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and cleaning programs assigned by campground management. Including, but not limited to, the pool/spa, lawn mowing, weed eating, pruning, planting, watering, landscaping, garbage pick-up, fire pits/rings cleaning, propane service, laundry servicing, deliver firewood to guest sites, cabin air conditioner maintenance, restroom p-trap maintenance, painting, tidying of common areas, and various other campground equipment upkeep.
- Use appropriate chemicals on certain items/areas as trained. Must use appropriate safety measures such as gloves, facemask, goggles, and protective eyewear.
- Empty garbage cans, pick up trash from camper sites, and transport to disposal areas.
- Campground buildings, facilities, and grounds are well-maintained and fully operational.
- Projects are completed properly, safely, and timely.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Must have a proactive approach to daily repair and maintenance of campground facilities.
- Provide excellent and friendly guest service by being attentive, responsive, and helpful to all guests needs. Greet the guests at every opportunity by demonstrating a friendly welcome.
- Present a positive impression with a well-groomed appearance, smiles, and proper KOA uniform and name tag.
- Demonstration of a positive attitude with guests, management, and team members.
- Submit a list of supplies that need to be replenished on an as-needed basis to the supervisor.
- Report all broken or damaged items within all equipment, buildings, cabins, and the premises.
- Report all customer problems, requests, or complaints to the supervisor and follow-up to resolve the issue if possible.
- Use of safe work practices for a secure work environment for staff and campground guests.

Job Qualifications
- Basic to intermediate skills in landscaping & maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of propane and gasoline dispensing.
- Prefer at least 4-6 months previous maintenance/grounds keeper experience but not required.
- Must be reliable and be flexible when it come to the work schedule.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing equipment and installation.
- Basic knowledge of chemical properties, handlings, and usage.
- Able to work with coworkers and guests in a positive, productive, and professional manner.
- Must be able to work under wet and slippery conditions.
- Have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds regularly.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to stand, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch, climb, and walk for long periods of time.
- Capable to digging, climbing, and other manual labor.
- Intermediate knowledge of common repair tools.
- Ability to effectively work at different heights.
- Must be able to work in environmental conditions that include, but not limited to; noise level – moderate to loud, indoor/outdoor environmental conditions with up to 90% humidity and temperatures ranging from 40F to 100F, rain and snow, and possible exposure to chemicals, fumes, dirt, odors, waste, and dust.
- Must be able to operate various loud and vibrating maintenance tools and equipment.
- Can operate a golf cart and other maintenance equipment safely.
- Able to work inside or outdoors frequently and in various climates.
- Capable of moving safely over uneven terrain.
