What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Maintenance Worker position at ERIE YACHT CLUB?
We are seeking a committed, dependable, and knowledgeable addition to our maintenance crew. This position will offer an opportunity for the candidate to exercise their mechanical skills along with learning new and exciting talents in the marina industry. We have a small crew, and tasks are mostly teamwork oriented but do include individual projects. Time is mostly spent working outdoors by or on the water. Many assignments are season dependent and include work within the buildings on the property. The Erie Yacht Club is member-based and while the maintenance department addresses the entire property, we primarily focus on marina needs. This position is year-round and will include weekends and some holidays.
General job duties:
-Boat hauling which includes operation of a 50-ton marine travel lift, operation of front loaders, and backing up yard trailers
-Keeping accurate maintenance records of all work performed including repairs, inspections, and inventory
-Management of a preventative and routine maintenance program
-Identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues
-Basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and light construction projects
-Operating and maintaining heavy equipment, machinery, and basic hand and power tools
-Metal work including use of acetylene torches and welders
-Monitor and maintain the general upkeep of facilities and property
-Communicate with management to prioritize work and ensure tasks are being completed in a timely manner
-Adhere to and monitor safety practices and policies
-Operation of a small work barge
-Snow plowing, snow-blowing, shoveling, and salting
-Operation of a marina fueling station
-Other job duties as required by management
Schedule:
-Full time
-Primarily Sunday-Thursday first shift 8am-4pm
-Saturdays, Sundays, and mandatory overtime are required in May and October
-Mid shifts, on-call time, and holidays are occasionally required
Candidate requirements:
-Mechanical experience and knowledge are required
-Maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and construction knowledge is preferred
-Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and reliable transportation
-Work outdoors in all weather conditions and be comfortable working near and on the water
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Frequently lift 50 pounds and other physical demands
-Work efficiently with a team and independently
-Interact with members, guests, and other staff in a courteous and polite manner
-Creative thinking, organizational, and time management skills
-Upon hiring, must complete Pennsylvania Boating Safety Education Certificate training within 90 days
