About the Role
The Payroll Specialist reports directly to the CFO and works on-site at our Martinez, CA location. The Payroll Specialist must have strong organizational and time management skills, quality decision-making capabilities, attention to detail and ability to exercise discretion. Experience working with accounting and payroll software is required.
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for owning the payroll processes - leading the Company payroll cycle and working closely with Human Resources and the CFO to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and certified payroll reporting.
What You’ll Do
Overall responsibility for reviewing and processing weekly timesheets for the Company and affiliates.- Overall responsibility for processing multi-state payroll both weekly and bi-weekly for the Company and affiliates for 200 employees which could include state prevailing wage rates, Davis-Bacon wage rates and/or Service Contract wage rates.
- Update unemployment and workers’ comp insurance rates in ERP, as necessary.
- Report all certified payroll via LCP Tracker, DIR or other required sites, as required.
- Process out of cycle payroll for termination and payroll adjustments.
- Enter garnishments and payroll deductions.
- Work with ADP SmartCompliance on all weekly tax uploads and monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings and W-2’s.
- Review and resolve all tax and other payroll-related correspondence received.
- Process the payment of weekly employee expense reports.
- Support and resolve inquiries from employees.
- Assist with annual financial and workers compensation audits.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Perform additional duties as may be assigned.
What you Bring
7 years of multi-state payroll processing experience is required.- ERP payroll processing experience is required - JD Edwards or similar Oracle platform experience highly preferred.
- Experience with ADP SmartCompliance is an asset.
· Construction / contractor payroll and accounting experience
- Experience with state prevailing wage rates, Davis-Bacon wage rates or Service Contract wage rates and certified reporting is required.
- Experience with detailed job cost allocations.
- Team player with strong communication, customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to keep organized, accurate records.
Nice to Have
- JD Edwards or similar Oracle platform experience
Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000
