Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Educational Technology
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience implementing AI solutions in an educational environment
  • Strong background in machine learning, natural language processing, and data analytics
  • Strong background in creating and delivering high-quality professional development
  • Experience in public sector/school environment preferred
  • Documentation of a clear criminal record in compliance with state statute
  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules and Board policies

Note:  This assignment may require a valid driver’s license and access/availability of a reliable vehicle.  Employees must meet all prerequisite and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the service center’s insurance carrier. 

Reports To:  Director of Technology and Digital Learning

Job Objectives:
The AI Specialist is a senior technology resource responsible for implementing and managing artificial intelligence solutions to enhance educational outcomes in the ESC and member districts.  This individual will lead AI adoption initiatives, ensure data privacy and ethical use of AI, and provide expertise in integrating AI technologies into existing educational systems.  The AI Specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and deliver professional development sessions on AI in education.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Implements AI-driven solutions to enhance teaching and learning processes
  • Analyzes and interprets data to improve educational outcomes
  • Develop AI-powered tools for personalized learning
  • Ensures ethical use of AI in educational settings
  • Manage data privacy and security in AI implementations
  • Assist district leadership teams in the AI adoption process
  • Create and lead professional development sessions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with IT and curriculum teams to integrate AI technologies
  • Stay current with AI trends and their potential impact on K-12 education
  • Develop and implement AI strategies aligned with the ESC’s Technology Plan
  • Manage AI-related projects from conception to deployment
  • Conduct research on emerging AI technologies and their application in education
  • Develop guidelines for responsible AI use in educational settings
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and implement AI-based educational tools
  • Provide expertise in machine learning algorithms and natural language processing
  • Support compliance initiatives related to AI use, data privacy, and applicable laws
  • Develop metrics to measure the impact of AI initiatives on student outcomes
  • Assist in grant writing and funding proposals for AI-related projects
  • Serve as liaison between the ESC, member districts, and AI technology provides
  • Provide guidance on AI integration in curriculum development
  • Support the development of AI literacy programs for students and educators
  • Collaborate with the Technology Coordinator to ensure AI systems integrate with existing infrastructure
  • Assist in developing policies for AI use in assessment and student support services
  • Provide regular reports on AI initiatives and their outcomes to leadership
 
Agency         
  • Develop and maintain an AI strategy that aligns with the agency
  • Lead the ESC’s internal AI Policy Committee
  • Identify opportunities for AI to streamline operations and improve service delivery
  • Collaborates with other departments to implement AI solutions that support the agency’s mission
  • Ensure AI initiatives comply with all relevant educational and data protection regulations.

ESC
  • Implement a framework for evaluating and adopting AI technologies in education
  • Develop best practices for AI integration in K-12 education
  • Support a culture of innovation through AI adoption and continuous improvement
  • Plan and manage the AI-related budget
  • Create a comprehensive documentation system for AI implementations and processes

SST
  • Provide AI-related support and guidance to SST staff
  • Assist in integrating AI tools into SST operations and services
  • Advise on AI applications for special education and intervention strategies
 

OCALI
  • Collaborate on AI initiatives to support individuals with disabilities
  • Integrate AI technologies into OCAL’s programs and services
  • Assist in developing AI-powered assistive technologies
  • Perform other specific job-related duties as directed by the Superintendent or his/her designee

Conduct:
