What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Design Coordinator for Adult Learners position at ESC2?
This position will play a key role in leading the development of instructional materials, course descriptions, lesson plans, and assessments for various programs including GED preparation, ESL for Professionals, Career Pathways, and other adult education initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design and curriculum development for adult learners and adult education program coordination.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Design Leadership:
- Lead the development and refinement of course descriptions, learning objectives, and instructional materials for GED preparation, ESL courses, Career Pathways programs, and other adult education initiatives.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, and program managers to design engaging and effective curriculum that aligns with a single set of learning objectives,program goals and student needs.
- Create detailed lesson and unit plans incorporating best practices in adult learning theory, differentiated instruction, and competency-based education.
Curriculum Development and Adaptation:
- Research, evaluate, and adapt existing curriculum resources to meet the needs of diverse adult learners and target populations.
- Develop innovative teaching strategies, educational resources, and multimedia content to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Ensure instructional materials are culturally responsive, accessible, and aligned with relevant academic standards and industry requirements.
Program Coordination and Implementation:
- Coordinate program activities related to instructional design, curriculum development, and assessment in collaboration with program leadership and stakeholders.
- Serve as PD Coordinator to organize, track and facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions for instructors on effective teaching practices, curriculum implementation, and assessment strategies.
- Knowledge of Texas Educating Adults Management System (TEAMS) data entry and database management
- Monitor program implementation and provide ongoing support to instructors to ensure fidelity of curriculum delivery and instructional quality.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Develop and implement assessment tools, including pre-tests, formative assessments, and post-tests, to measure student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Analyze assessment data and student progress to inform instructional adjustments and program improvements.
- Participate in program evaluation activities, reporting on student achievements and program impact to internal and external stakeholders.
2. Possess working skills in the use of technology to deliver Distance Education instruction, communicate via email and teach basic computer skills to the adult learner.
3. Self-motivated and able to work productively from various satellite worksites.
