What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Network Coordinator-Information Technology Department position at ESCAMBIA COUNTY?

This class will lead the Network team and be responsible for designing, installing, and troubleshooting network systems, including wireless, to meet the functional objectives of the Escambia County Commissioners (BCC). The incumbent in this position will be involved with the configuration and maintenance of physical and logical network components as well as designing the network architecture/infrastructure and LAN/WAN/wireless solutions.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations
Designs, configures, and manages network devices from Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba, F5 Networks and Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM appliances
Plans the network implementation by determining physical and logical layouts as well as evaluating new products and services
Installs, configures, and maintains network infrastructure at sites across Escambia County
Meets end user needs by ensuring the uptime, performance, resource availability, and security of the networks managed within established budgets and operational guidelines
Determines and diagrams physical layouts which illustrate the physical location of and the connections between devices on the network
Utilizes change management processes to ensure projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other and business and IT strategies
Assesses network vulnerabilities and makes recommendations regarding standard configurations, documentation, management of change, performance and security
Enforces necessary requirements to meet network monitoring applications and responds to resulting alerts
Installs, maintains, and supervises network monitoring applications and responds to resulting alerts
Identifies performance or fault anomalies
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, Management Information Systems, or related field and 5 years’ experience in infrastructure/network environments including network design, implementation, administration, and support; or an equivalent of combined education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the job such as is listed below.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence
Preferred Qualification Requirements:
Cisco/Aruba certifications (CCNP or equivalent)
Experience working in a regulated network environment, including change management processes, documentation requirements, and standardized procedures
Experience working with common networking features and protocols such as: spanning tree, ARP, CDP, EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, 802.1Q trunking, MLS, HSRP, QoS, multicast, 802.11, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS , SNMP, and MPLS services
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs):
comprehensive knowledge of LAN, WAN, and Datacenter technologies on an enterprise level
knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, Network cabling, layer 2 and layer 3 switching, the OSI Model, MPLS and Metro-ethernet, VPN and SSL technology

During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situations and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require sitting, standing, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Sedentary work involves sitting frequently during the day.
