What are the responsibilities and job description for the Creative Designer/Graphic Designer position at Escape Climbing?
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a Designer, you will play a pivotal role in controlling the visual identity of our brand, products, and user experiences. Your innovative design solutions will contribute to enhancing the overall user journey and engagement, as we strive to enable the sport of climbing.
The Designer develops and executes the overall layout and design for any visual associated with the brand. This will include items such as advertisements, email newsletters, apparel mockups, brochures, package inserts, catalogs, social media content, videos, website visuals, owner manuals, go-to-market strategies, product mockups, and internal documents. Brand Designer maintains, updates, and develops logos, marks, fonts, colors, and brand guidelines for Escape.
This position tells an intentional brand story through the creation of Escape's visual assets. The culmination of this position's work sets the visual tone for us as a climbing brand (vs a hold brand). Due to the heavy and fast paced design schedule it is essential to identify opportunities to improve processes and systems that will help marketing in its constant pursuit of mastery.
At the current size of Escape a Brand Designer will do the high level brand work and management, while doing the graphic design, and production design work to complete the given projects.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leverage the power of visual design to educate and serve our customers
- Create videos to tell stories and educate our audience
- Execute creative direction while yet staying rooted in the brand
- Generate and run with project ideas and and strategies
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions
- Work collaboratively with the team by using feedback/constructive criticism to elevate the final design
- Use Social media to bring our brand's image and products into the daily life of our followers
- Stay up-to-date with design trends and emerging technologies in both the design and rock climbing industries
- Capture images and videos of products including studio & outdoor shoots
- Perform retouching and manipulation of images and videos
- Use digital illustration, photo/video editing software, and layout software to create the needed design
- Review designs for errors before printing, publishing, or uploading
- Ensure projects are completed, are high quality, and on schedule
- Conduct user research and gather feedback to inform your design decisions
- All employees are expected to help in any position when needed
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job whenever scheduled to work (attendance and reliable transportation are necessary).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS preferred
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook/YouTube/Instagram)
- Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, and other graphic design software
- Familiarity with running marketing campaigns
- Familiarity with apparel design
- Compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent eye for detail
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, design, communications, or related field
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
- 0-5 years of experience in graphic design

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
