Security Systems Designer and Estimator

Position Summary

Responsible for designing and estimating efficient and compliant fire, burglar, camera, and access systems. Site visits are required on some projects where prints provided are not enough information to accurately design or quote a system.

Tasks / Duties / Responsibilities

· Layout and design security systems.

· Conduct site visits as needed to evaluate existing conditions to prepare for design and pricing.

· Provide sales support.

· Design system layout, wiring schematics, and details to meet code compliance.

· Utilize CAD to create and modify drawings and schematics.

· Coordinate with architects, engineers, and customers to integrate security systems into overall building designs.

· Prepare detailed cost estimates for security work based on project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents.

· Determine the quantity and cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services required for each project phase.

· Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop accurate and competitive bid proposals.

· Produce as-built drawings following Construction.

· Assist the company on staying up with best practices and staying on the cutting edge of technology and trends related to the security industry.

· Assist sales with technical expertise in the design and sales process.

· Facilitate project handoff to the PM via project kickoff meetings.

· Attend project closeout meetings to get design feedback from members of the team.

Skills / Abilities / Attributes

· Strong knowledge of the fire code.

· Need to understand and keep current with portions of the National Building Codes.

· Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both written and verbal.

· Ability to read/interpret blueprints.

· Computer skills to include, Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam PDF editor and the ability to learn quickly and navigate other computer-based systems such as estimating, project management systems, accounting systems, etc.

· Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to multi-task.

· Ability to identify issues and put processes in place to streamline work flow to provide a better experience for both the customer and other team members.

· Proficient in AlarmCad.

· Detailed-oriented and organized.

· Self-Motivated.

· Results-driven.

· Ability to work in support of or lead others in a team environment as projects may require.

Education, Experience, and/or Certification Requirements

· Security Industry experience

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
