REGIONAL HR GENERALIST MANAGER (with Generalist Level Tasks)
Can be based in Charleston, SC or Alpharetta, GA.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Regional Human Resources Manager plays a critical role as a first point of contact for all human resources related matters and providing strong customer service across multiple locations within the designated region(s). Working closely with the Regional VP, Branch & Office Managers, HR Director, HR team members as well as all team members of the region, the Regional HR Manager will collaborate with various departments, other regions & the corporate team members to ensure the effective implementation and application of the company’s HR policies, strategies and initiatives that align with our organizational goals and values. This position can be a combo office/home (hybrid) role, subject to change based on business needs, but must be located near one of our branch offices - weekly time in office is a requirement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment:
Assist with the recruitment & hiring efforts for the region for various positions to include, but not limited to job postings, interview coordination and applicant tracking. (FUTURE WITH NEW ATS)
Employee Pre-Boarding & Onboarding:
Ensure all pre-hire items are complete prior to first day to include, but no limited to: signed offer letter, all applicable new hire items are ordered & ready to go for day one, communication with the incoming employee about their first day schedule and what to bring for ID verification on day one. Administer the Eskola New Hire Orientation on first day to include company information, explanation of important/significant company policies, timekeeping procedures, pay day information, etc. and ensure they are included in safety orientation prior to being allowed on any project/job sites. Ensure completion of all items on new hire checklist. May assist with acquisitions/onboardings within the region(s) assigned.
Employee Records Management:
Ensure all employee records/personnel files for the region are accurately maintained in a confidential manner and comply with relevant laws and regulations as well as record retainment policies.
Employee Relations:
Serve as a trusted advisor and resource to the regional employees and managers on HR-related issues, including matters & general inquiries regarding benefits, pay, employee grievances, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, FMLA/leaves of absence, etc. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by promoting open communication and resolving conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
HR Policy and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Apply and enforce HR policies, procedures, and programs to maintain legal compliance and mitigate risks. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and address any compliance issues proactively.
Training and Development:
Collaborate with department heads to identify training and development needs for employees at all levels. Design and implement training programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance. Support career development initiatives and succession planning efforts to retain top talent and foster career growth within the organization.
Change Management:
Lead change management efforts related to organizational restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and other business initiatives. Partner with senior leaders to communicate changes effectively, address employee concerns, and minimize disruption to operations.
Employee Offboarding:
Participate in employee terminations within the region as needed, make recommendations when needed to managers or supervisors on termination matters. Complete termination checklist items & processes to include termination from system(s) and benefits.
Other duties: This role may fluctuate, or new duties may be assigned, to meet business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field or a combination of education & experience considered.
- Professional HR certification(s) desired - HRCI and/or SHRM
- 8 years of progressive experience in HR generalist to management level work, preferably in the construction or contracting industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Very Strong technology skills with Microsoft Office products - i.e. Outlook, Excel, Teams
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Managing sensitive employee information & maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Experience with employee onboarding, employee relations, benefits, HR procedures & policy application.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS and other HR software systems.
- Willingness to travel within the region(s) as needed to branch offices.
