This is a part-time position. Hours are typically Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm but can be discussed based on availability and needs. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs.

Pay:

Starting Pay: $71,400  Pay Range: $63,075 - $79,517

Purpose:

This position, on-loan to WealthForward ROC, is accountable for managing and executing WealthForward ROC’s communications and public relations activities. Provides thought leadership and serves as an ambassador for WealthForward ROC by building relationships with the media and key influencers. The incumbent oversee’s WealthForward ROC’s Homeownership Network across web and social media presence.  Works internally and with WealthForward ROC’s collaborators to ensure a consistent presence across media channels and helps to foment a community movement toward closing our homeownership gap and building generational wealth.

Accountabilities:

Develop, manage, and execute WealthForward ROC’s communications strategy 

• Create, deliver, and/or manage a mix of targeted communications through appropriate channels, prioritizing new media, to drive WealthForward ROC’s key messages among targeted audiences: potential homebuyers, collaborators (e.g., realtors, banks, housing counselors), supporters and influencers
• Ensure quality, consistency, and appropriate review by management and/or legal for all WealthForward ROC communication to the public including program participants, collaborators, and supporters/funders
• Manage and execute as needed any public events or appearances on behalf of WealthForward ROC
• Interact with members of the media, collaborator’s communications teams, influencers, etc. in a timely fashion
• Consult and collaborate with, advise and/or assist WealthForward Roc team, and Board members as needed in preparing and delivering high-priority WealthForward ROC communications
• Develop and maintain an effective media relations strategy, seeking high value, targeted placements in broadcast, online, and/or print media where key audiences pay attention. Build relationships with thought leaders and relevant influencers to grow awareness
• Oversee a comprehensive Crisis Communications Plan
• Stay abreast of current issues affecting WealthForward ROC, the homeownership market, and the Greater Rochester community
• Monitor, analyze and report on WealthForward ROC communications results

Plan, create and distribute relevant and useful communication content to support our Homeownership Network and general WelathForward ROC messaging across web and social platforms

• Write, edit, and/or produce relevant, memorable, and audience-appropriate content in support of public relations activities for all channels, including social media channels
• Capture and disseminate inspiring stories of homeownership through multiple mediums and channels
• Write and disseminate press releases as required

Manage external public relations and media vendors as needed to achieve the current and future public relations needs of WealthForward ROC and manage the Communications budget.

• Manage vendor relationship with external public relations agency, social and web media partners
• Prioritize engaging an inclusive mix of vendors, including supporting development and growth of emerging local agency vendors where appropriate
• Provide monthly updates to ensure budget is on track with annual plan

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or business preferred, or 4 years of directly related experience required
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate communications and/or public relations, with minimum 4 years in social and digital channels
• Demonstrates alignment with ESL’s Core Values, mission, vision, and purpose to help our community thrive and prosper

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a digital community manager
• Five (5) or more years of experience with a focus on web-based/social media
• Experience targeting urban, young adult markets
• Extensive knowledge of Greater Rochester communities, neighborhoods, culture and influencers.
