All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience in college counseling and/or college admissions--with tutoring, teaching, and/or coaching a plus--and a willingness to work with a part-time student roster in the SF peninsula and South Bay area!

Job Description
ESM Prep is seeking a part-time College Coach to build meaningful relationships with students, help them to successfully navigate high school, and guide them effectively and compassionately through all aspects of the college application process. This includes navigating the Common App, UT App, UC App, and more; discussing SAT/ACT testing paths; helping students build well-rounded college lists; supporting students in the development of their college essays; managing the academic and extracurricular decisions throughout their high school journey; and most importantly, providing thoughtful mentorship that ensures their social and emotional wellbeing. Our Coaches work together extensively as a tight-knit team, collaborating on best practices and best ways to facilitate student success.
Work Location: Bay Area, working both remotely and in-person at students’ homes. Palo Alto, Atherton, and Menlo Park, for example.
Work Hours: Your work hours will be flexible depending on your student's needs and availability, but they will primarily consist of weekday (Monday - Thursday) afternoons/evenings and some weekends (typically Sunday afternoons).
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 years direct experience in college consulting or college admissions
- Advanced understanding of the modern college search and application process, including first-hand experience with the Common Application, University of Texas Application, and University of California Application
- Dynamic coaching personality and ability to build relationships with students, parents, and coworkers from all walks of life
- Desire to mentor students over the course of multiple years
- Capacity for guiding parents through challenging decisions
- Collaborative spirit, a willingness and ability to work with a team to reach goals together
- Excellent verbal and written communication to your counseling students and parents through proactive outreach, regular updates, and quick responses
- Reliable internet access (fast enough for video conferencing)
Compensation/Benefits:
- Compensation wage: $100-$150/hr for work with students
- Additional hourly compensation for training, team meetings, and administrative functions
