Clinical Specialist – Utilization Review Specialist

Overview: The Utilization Review Specialist monitors and evaluates the efficiency and appropriateness of clinical services provided. This role involves reviewing treatment plans, evaluating service delivery against client outcomes, and advising on optimal discharge practices, thereby ensuring cost-effective and high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities: Analyze case records, treatment plans, and service usage data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Review the length of patient stays, discharge procedures, and overal treatment effectiveness to recommend best practices. Colaborate with clinical supervisors and other stakeholders to assess the alignment of services with regulatory guidelines. Prepare detailed reports on utilization metrics and clinical efficiency for review by the Department of Health Services. Provide input and training on utilization review processes as part of quality improvement initiatives. Estimated Hourly Rates: For a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with “R” qualification: Approximately $38 per hour. For an LMSW, LMHC, or LCSW without “R” qualification: Approximately $34 per hour. Location: Services wil be rendered at Suffolk County’s mental health clinics and correctional facilities, with primary oversight provided from Great River, NY. Education & Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Healthcare Administration, Counseling, or a closely related field. Valid state licensure (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, or LCSW-R). Experience in case management, healthcare utilization review, or a related area is essential. Demonstrated ability to analyze clinical data and implement process improvements
