Hours: 8 hrs/day; 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM |
General Job Function:
The Business Management & Administration intern will gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a school district business office. Interns will assist in key administrative functions, including payroll processing, purchasing, and inventory management. This opportunity will help students develop workplace skills, gain exposure to financial and operational procedures, and understand the role of business administration in public education.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, students will:
- Understand the fundamentals of payroll processing and employee compensation
- Learn about governmental purchasing procedures, accounts payable, accounts receivables and financial
- Gain insight into inventory management and record-keeping for school district
- Develop essential workplace skills such as communication, organization, and attention to
- Enhance proficiency in office software applications, including spreadsheets and financial databases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support purchasing activities, including reviewing purchase orders and tracking
- Help maintain inventory records by updating asset logs and conducting basic
- Organize and file financial documents, reports, and administrative
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, and preparing
- Shadow business office staff to observe financial and administrative
- Follow confidentiality and compliance guidelines related to financial records and employee information.
Education/Training/Experience:
- Preference will be given to applicants with successful completion of business and math
Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and
- Ability to follow instructions and work
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) or Google
- Good communication and teamwork
