Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk for one of our customers; this is a temp-to-hire position. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, proficiency in payroll software, and exceptional attention to detail. The Payroll Clerk will maintain employee records, process payroll transactions, and assist with various accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
- Review and verify employee timecards and attendance records, ensuring accurate reporting and timely submission.
- Calculate and process deductions, including benefits, taxes, and wage garnishments, with attention to detail.
- Prepare and maintain accurate payroll records and reports for auditing and record-keeping purposes.
- Address employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits deductions, and wage discrepancies professionally and promptly.
- Assist HR in onboarding new employees, setting up payroll profiles, and ensuring accurate entry of employee information.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure compliance with labor laws and internal standards.
- Coordinate with HR and Accounting departments to support benefits administration and tax filings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or HR preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in payroll processing or a related field.
- Previous experience in payroll processing or corporate accounting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with payroll software (such as ADP, Kronos or QuickBooks) and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer service orientation.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
