What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Laboratory Technician / Chemistry Technician position at ESPO Corporation?
On-Site Location: Baltimore, MD. 21226 / Curtis Bay
Duration: 6 month plus. Ideally looking for a temp-to-perm candidate with potential contract extensions as necessary.
Schedule: 40 hrs/week 9am-5pm (flexible).
Pay rate: 18-19.50/hr
You will be working in the oil testing laboratory and/or environmental laboratory.
Follow established procedures and processes.
Prepare standards, reagents, and quality control samples.
Sample preparation and disposal for various analysis. Mainly for:
PCBs analysis, getting samples ready for GC analysis, disposal post analysis.
Fluid quality Analysis Sample Preparation for Moisture content,
Dissolved Gas analysis Vials Preparation.
Sample preparations for various Inorganic analysis.
Various Bench Top Analysis:
Waste Characterization
Fluid specific gravity
Power factor Analysis
Dielectric Analysis
pH Analysis
Other Duties:
Sample disposal into the various waste streams
General lab maintenance activities
Other lab related assignments as needed.
Working knowledge of computer applications such as MS Word and Excel.
High School Diploma or equivalent .
Preferred: High School Diploma, Associates or B.S. in Chemistry or other STEM field.
Knowledgeable in analytical testing OR in environmental sample collection.
No experience required / But Preferred: Chemistry Technician Experience and/or Sample Collection Experience.
Ability to gain unescorted access to nuclear facilities/plants .
Valid driver's license.
Successful completion of the EEI Tech test..
Long range duties will include: Analysis of PCBs by Gas chromatography, determination of dielectric constant by VDE and disc electrodes, interfacial tension of oils and total acid number, total base number, particle contamination, trace metals by ICP OES and moisture in oils, dissipation factor, resistivity, flash point and viscosity analysis. Chemical Laboratory work with the use of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Karl Fisher Titration, LC-MS, NMR, UV-Vis Chromatography, FT-IR and wet lab analysis. Maintain and write SOP and calibration of instruments.
