Job Title: CNC Programmer/Operator
Location: Crystal Lake area
Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire
Pay range: $32 - $38/hr
Hours: 7am - 3:30pm (OT as needed)
With general supervision, programs, sets up and operates CNC equipment to produce parts in accordance with supplied prints and/or verbal instructions.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Develops programs using CAD/CAM posts to program Haas Mill and Lathe machines to produce parts according to drawing specifications in Metric
2. Reads work orders and follows the specific work requirements and machining instructions according to customer specifications
3. Works with Quality Inspectors to resolve any quality issues as needed
4. Collaborates with Engineers on custom components for customers
5. Performs routine maintenance on CNC equipment
6. Implements efficient machining techniques consistent with the latest technologies
7. Maintains a clean and safe work area
8. Trains new CNC Programmers / Setups as needed
9. Responsible for the quality of machined parts produced on the CNC equipment
10. Selects and installs the proper cutting tools per programming set-up requirements
11. Sets up and runs various CNC lathes and mills.
Required Education & Experience:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred
2. Working knowledge of CNC Mills and Lathes machinery and performing set ups to produce parts from drawings
3. Five years minimum previous CNC Mill and lathe experience and machining hardened steel and aluminum
4. Two years minimum experience CAD/CAM preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to develop programs using G and M codes with Fanuc style controls using CAM post on HAAS machines
2. Ability to read and interpret drawings with GD&T geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
3. Meticulous attention to detail
4. Ability to use hand held inspection tools, i.e. Micrometers, Thread Micrometers.
5. Good written and verbal communication skills
6. Good manual dexterity
7. Strong math skills and competent using the metric system going down to micron level
8. Ability to resolve day-to-day issues and to prioritize activities
9. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
