Electrical Engineer - Protection and Control - Relay Engineer
Remote from home 3 weeks per month / 3 Days per month at the office.
Office Location: Windsor Mill / Baltimore, MD. 21244
Duration: 2 years plus -Long term open ended
You can work Remote from home 3 weeks per month / and come into the office once a month for a few days. (T,W,Th). Reimbursed for travel, lodging, food for those 3 days.
Our Electric Utility client is looking for Electrical Engineer System Protection & Controls Engineers to work on projects for Transmission / Substation Automation Relay and System Protection. This is an open ended long term assignment.
- Must have experience with Protection and/or Control Engineering and/or Relay/Control Settings Experience.
-Experience developing relay protection schematics/elementary diagrams (one lines, AC Potential and Current, DC Relay Schematics, Control House Layouts, Panel Front Views etc) using microprocessor-based relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Basler etc).
-Experience developing control schematics/elementary diagrams (RTU, SCADA, Annunciator, Metering etc.) using primarily SEL RTAC RTU, SEL Controllers and DME Meters.
-Experience with Distribution Fault coordination studies or Fault calculations for transmission lines, buses, transformers, capacitor banks, circuit breakers, and reactors.
-Experience Developing of logic diagrams and relay settings to support relay schemes and/or control settings to support control elementary and communication architectures.
- For a Protection Engineering position, we require significant experience in relay design and relay settings, particularly with SEL and GE relays. For a Controls Engineering position, the candidate must have a strong background in communication design and settings, as well as networking, particularly with SEL RTAC RTU’s. This includes being able to discuss and explain various substation communication protocols, configurations, and their past project experience in considerable detail.
Specific technical/software experience:
Experience with SEL AcSELerator, SEL Diagram Builder, QuickSet and/or other SEL software like 2030 etc.
Experience with ASPEN relay Database , ASPEN One-Liner or similar software (EX. CAPE or SKM Power Tools).
Experience with CYMDIST (or similar coordination study software).
Experience with MathCAD and/or other relay calculations hand calculating or software experience.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Courses a plus)
