Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Manager, Employee Relations will facilitate and manage employee relations by partnering with employees and people managers across the business.
JOB DUTIES
- Handles complex and/or sensitive employment-related inquiries from employees and people managers, referring matters to the appropriate staff, as needed.
- Manages and resolves employee relations issues.
- Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to people managers (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, terminations, and investigations).
- Works closely with people managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Counsels employees on concerns related to applicable employment laws including Family Medical Leave Act, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other similar federal and state laws.
- Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with HR leadership.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (Paycom).
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Five years of professional human resource administration, including three years in employee relations preferred OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience.
- SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
- SHRM California Law HR Specialty Credential or three years of experience in a California HR environment preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS
- Successful management of HR employee relations process, including timely resolution of employee relations matters.
- Creation and maintenance of up-to-date policies and procedures related to employee relations.
- Company performance, including revenue and EBITDA.
