What are the responsibilities and job description for the Worker's Compensation Legal Assistant position at Essentia Health?
The Workers’ Compensation Legal Assistant supports the Program Manager and Paralegal with legal administrative duties including but not limited to filing motions and other legal documents via the administrative court system, management of the digital file system and spreadsheets, follow-up with Workers Compensation and Third-Party Liability case files. The legal assistant will at times perform case law research for the Program Manager and Paralegal.
This is a hybrid role that's 32 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Logs in hearing notices, settlement and administrative conferences to calendar
- Keeps files updated by contacting and communicating with attorneys on case progress
- Maintaining Excel spreadsheets for continuous monitoring re: monies being collected re: TPL/WC Settlements and underpayments
- Assisting with the preparation and filing of legal documents and correspondence
- Responding to Third Party Liability Lien hold requests
- Proofreading legal documents for the manager and paralegal
- Provides support to the department as needed
Educational Requirements:
- Associate’s degree and/or 3 years’ legal experience in Workers Compensation or Liability field
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Must have attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
- Long term interest in risk, legal, workers compensation, or related field
- Experience with shared files, Adobe, Foxit
