What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Clinician position at Essex County Sheriff's Department?
Provide mental health services to inmates in a correctional setting including crisis intervention, screening, assessment and evaluation, psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning and release planning. Monitor inmates with mental health service needs in general population and specialized housing.
Responsibilities
· Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide direct clinical care and consultation services in accordance with ECSD policies and procedures and in accordance with the ethical standards of relevant professional organizations (e.g., NASW).
- Understand the relevant accreditation standards, assure compliance, and maintain all timelines required within the scope of the position.
- Communicate and work with both facility staff and outside support agencies to facilitate patient treatment.
- Participate in on-call emergency rotation.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in a behavioral/social science field from an accredited college or university.
- LCSW, LICSW or LMHC (applicants within 6 months of licensure will be considered).
- 2 years professional experience in clinical social work or mental health counseling; group and individual psychotherapy; crisis intervention; and mental health assessments.
- Experience working with underprivileged and vulnerable populations; establishing strong personal and clinical boundaries; communicating effectively; working efficiently both individually and collaboratively.
