Job Summary: Responsible for greeting members and their guests, seating, and updating the seating chart efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepare and maintain seating chart for each shift and be familiar with the rotation order.
· Distribute the daily specials to the various stations and change the menus to reflect the specials of the day.
· Greet and seat members and their guests in a courteous and timely manner as they enter the dining room and/or communicate delays in seating and start & manage a waiting list.
· Review books for any reservations.
· Accommodate the special needs of members and communicate any needs to appropriate staff.
· Assist Dining Room Staff during rush periods by cleaning tables whenever possible.
· Answer telephone in a professional manner, document reservations, take “to-go-orders” and answer member inquiries.
· Take messages for employees and deliver those messages when the opportunity presents itself.
· Communicate member and/or employee difficulties to management.
· Apply knowledge of full menu and other restaurant information such as restaurant hours and types of payment.
· Enter “to-go-orders” into computer, prints receipts, and prepares to-go items necessary to fill order along with condiments, other food items, and utensils.
· Complete guest check transactions.
· Complete opening and closing duties in accordance with approved procedures.
· Communicate any health and/or safety concerns or violations immediately to management.
· Other duties as assigned by Dining Room Manager, Assistant Director of Food & Beverage and/or Director of Food & Beverage.
Qualifications and Skills
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of the organization.
· Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
· Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Have knowledge of Microsoft Office software, spreadsheet software, point of sale (POS) systems, and phones.
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, and talk or hear.
· The employee is frequently required to walk during the duration of shift.
· The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
