Duties
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis to support case preparation.
- Manage and organize legal documents, ensuring accurate filing and retrieval within document management systems.
- Assist in the preparation of legal briefs, motions, and other documents pertinent to ongoing cases.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal matters while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Provide executive administrative support including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings for attorneys.
- Support the legal team in case management by tracking deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements.
- Collaborate with attorneys to gather information and evidence necessary for cases.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law firm or legal department.
- Strong knowledge of legal research methodologies and familiarity with Lexis-Nexis.
- Proficiency in document management systems and legal case management software.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Knowledge of personal injury law or environmental law is preferred but not mandatory.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
