About the role: As a Senior Accountant with eternalHealth you will report directly to the Controller and have a hand in the financial and accounting processes of a start-up health plan. Working across various workstreams including compliance, strategy, finance, and handling the reconciliation of eternalHealth accounts, posting to and closing of the General Ledger. Additionally, you will be involved in assisting with our annual external audit. As a Senior Accountant, you will also be working very closely alongside external vendors.

Responsibilities:

· Oversee the full cycle of payroll functions that are executed by an external vendor

· Responsible for employee’s paycheck discrepancies, resolve any payroll taxes notices received from government agencies.

· Assist in payroll reporting and ad hoc reporting as needed

· Reconcile and tie out payroll/tax expenses to the ledger balance on a quarterly basis

· Assist the CFO/Controller on a wide range of complex corporate accounting and financial reporting and other transactions.

· Prepare the quarterly and annual NAIC filings schedules and exhibits.

· Prepare the month-end close journal entries including revenue, expense accruals, FA, prepaid and cash, payroll expenses, payroll accruals, and etc.

· Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements and explain flux variance analysis.

· Ensure financial statements, general ledgers and subsidiary accounts for multiple entities are prepared in accordance with accounting standards.

· Review and analyze claims and capitation expenses to ensure accuracy.

· Ability to follow through with all exceptions and provide updates at team meetings

· Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts and significant P/L accounts by entities

· Ensure intercompany transactions are reconciling, and settling are accurately in the ledger between subsidiaries

· Assist in the actual vs budget variance by department and provide narrative for variance analysis

· Prepare financial information to support the state examiner requests timely and accurately

· Support audit activities, providing documentation and explanations of transactions and balances.

· Consistently meet month-end close targets and quarterly NAIC filings deadlines

· Work toward constant process improvement including automation, integration, process improvement, and reporting

· Coach and mentor the Accounts Payable Specialist on the day-to-day functions

· Able to utilize Solver Analytics Tool to build custom reports

· Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality in accordance with eternalHealth’s security standards

· Develop an understanding of the business across workstreams

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

· Minimum 4-5 years of experience in accounting (CPA preferred).

· Strong knowledge of GAAP and CMS regulations specific to Medicare Advantage programs.

· Knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principle and understanding of accounting concept.

· Excellent written and communication skills.

· Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.

· Results-oriented, strategic, and continuously striving for improvement

· Flexible and able to ramp up quickly on different projects to support the team as needed in a fast-paced start-up environment.

· Ability to perform job functions while maintaining compliance with all State and Federal regulations.

· Great multitasking skills, strong attention to detail, great organizational skills, teamwork and a sense of personal responsibility, self-motivated, and financially, quality, and service oriented.

Preferred:

· Experience in the use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 accounting system is a plus.

· Experience in Medicare Advantage is a plus
